The midtown area circles a prominent strip of Central Avenue that’s lined with hotels, restaurants, shops and museums. Local eateries offer diverse cuisine, and include both independent local favorites and national chains. 

Midtown features beautiful green spaces where you can enjoy a picnic, kick around a soccer ball or attend fun events. Encanto Park covers 220 acres and includes three separate kids play areas, a large sports field and outdoor gym, picnic spots, and scenic views with many bridges and waterways. If you enjoy a bit of an adrenaline rush, you can also spend a day with your kids at Enchanted Island Amusement Park just next door. Steele Indian School Park is also popular. Annual music, arts and food festivals are hosted here, along with a great 4th of July celebration.

Midtown is more low-key than Downtown Phoenix, but offers its own selection of fun hotel bars and local dives, along with a few spots that host dance nights and themed events. There’s a wide array of bakeries, restaurants, bistros and other eateries around Midtown Phoenix. If you want a perfectly cooked steak, Durant’s has over 50 years of experience cooking filets to perfection. Many craft coffee houses are located throughout the area as well, making it easy to get a caffeine kick when you need it.

There are several parks and green spaces located throughout Midtown Phoenix, along with many others in the nearby downtown area. Encanto Park and Steele Indian School Park are among the largest in the city, and both are great spots to connect with community. Encanto Park is the most used park in the city. It covers 220 acres and includes numerous amenities, such as a sports field, outdoor gym and kids play areas. It's a beautiful place to walk with lots of bridges and waterways.

Steele Indian School Park offers several amenities too, including a playground and picnic areas, two half-court basketball courts and two sand volleyball courts. It's also known for its many annual festivals and arts and crafts fairs. Performances are held at the park's amphitheater which is directly off of Bird Lake.

Some smaller local parks include Monterey Park and Madison Park. You’ll also find Margaret T. Hance Park just slightly south at the edge of downtown.

Phoenix College is located in Encanto, while the University of Arizona and Arizona State University have campuses in the downtown area. For families with younger children, there are many primary and secondary schools located in and around Midtown Phoenix.
