Downtown Phoenix

Downtown Phoenix is located near the Central Arts District, where you’ll find the Phoenix Art Museum and Heard Museum. Downtown also features numerous concert halls and theaters, including but not limited to Phoenix Symphony Hall, Orpheum Theatre, Herberger Theater Center and The Phoenix Theatre Company. Head a bit south and you’ll run into the Japanese Friendship Garden, where you can feed coy fish and have a picnic in a beautifully landscaped setting.

There are tons of events to attend at the Phoenix Convention Center, which hosts concerts, off-Broadway performances, comedy shows, and of course, conventions like Fan Fusion Comicon. Nightlife is a high point thanks to numerous clubs, craft brewpubs and bars with talented mixologists. You can also see local artists or touring indie bands at popular music venues like Crescent Ballroom and Last Exit Live. There are several parks in Downtown Phoenix, both large and small. Civic Space Park, ASU campus, includes an eye-catching contemporary sculpture that’s perfect for selfies. Other local parks include Margaret T. Hance Park, Thelma Williams Paw-Pup Park and Roosevelt Mini Park.

Several educational institutions call Downtown Phoenix home, including the University of Arizona and the downtown branch of Arizona State University. There are also many primary and secondary schools in and near Downtown Phoenix for families with children.
